Call for Applications: Researcher Position in ANDROMEDA Project
The Department of Information Engineering at the University of Pisa, in collaboration with Alkeria, invites applications for a researcher position under the project named “ANDROMEDA - Optical Event Based Sensor for High-Speed Embedded Digital Cameras”.
Position: Researcher
Contract Duration: 2 years
Annual Salary: €30,000 gross/year

Location: University of Pisa, Department of Information Engineering in collaboration with Alkeria Srl.

Project Overview—ANDROMEDA
The ANDROMEDA project focuses on the study, design, and characterization of an advanced hardware/software architecture for digital processing of images acquired from event-based optical sensors. The research will involve conducting a comprehensive state-of-the-art study, defining algorithms, and developing related hardware/software architectures. The proposed solution will be implemented in a demonstrator based on FPGA technology, with a subsequent evaluation of performance metrics, including accuracy, temporal resolution, dynamics, latency, and power consumption.
Qualifications
- Master's degree (MSc) in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related disciplines
- strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a research environment
- fluent in spoken and written English
Preferred skills (considered a plus)
- knowledge of Hardware Description Language (HDL) design
- familiarity with FPGA devices
